Aerobic Vs Anaerobic
Aerobic exercises are sustained periods of cardiovascular condition. Both the heart rate and breathing are higher during the exercise. Furthermore, the intensity of exercise can range from low to high. It is otherwise known as ‘cardio’ and is completely oxygen dependent. A few examples are walking, swimming, cycling, etc.
Anaerobic exercises are short bursts of energy. They aim to be as intense as possible in a short period of time. These exercises are an excellent way to improve speed and build muscles. Additionally, it also boosts the overall performance of the individual. They consist of jump rope, weight training, etc.
Jump Rope : Aerobic or Anaerobic?
Entirely based on the intensity at which you jump rope, it can be determined as an aerobic and an anaerobic exercise. You alter speed levels to increase in thereby making it anaerobic in nature. While on the other, maintaining a slower-steadier pace gives it an aerobic advantage. However, it is important to keep jumping rope for a period of 30-40 minutes is not an easy task. Especially for a newbie. So in a way it works as aerobic while if you do it for 30 seconds in maximum intensity is makes it anaerobic.
Therefore, it comes down to your muscle endurance, strength, and fitness level. Hence, before you decide to jump rope, determine your goals. Are you looking to torch some serious calories? Then jump rope works for you. Do you want to build some serious muscle? Well, that works too. So my opinion is that when it comes down to determining whether it is aerobic or anaerobic – it depends heavily on the individual.
